Season’s greetings! As we head into the Christmas break, this is a traditional time for reflection and for celebration. We’ve had a very busy year once more, successfully drawing to a close the first phase of the programme (negotiating a raft of EU audits in the process). This meant assisting over 900 SMEs with either funding support or workshop assistance, helping create 177 jobs, safeguard over 300 others, save over 3,500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent and help generate cost savings of over £1,000,000!

Since then, we have approved and awarded a further 134 grants totalling around £550,000, with over £275,000 being paid out already. Given the continued popularity of the grants programme, the pot of ERDF funding that we had secured has been exhausted. As such, we announced last month that we could no longer accept new applications, though this does not mean the end of our offerings.

As we head into the final months of the programme, we would very much like to build on what we have done thus far to help businesses in the region rather than winding down and relaxing. As such, we are looking at running a number of workshops, clinics and events throughout south and mid-Essex to share best practice and integrate new products, processes or thinking into their operations. You will see from a perusal of our case studies that resource efficiency touches most aspects of every business (not just the electricity meter) so reviewing impact and benchmarking progress is increasingly important. You’ll also note that savings can be made in some unlikely places so we’ll still be on hand to assist with helping you identify where! The team look forward to helping you in 2015.

Kind regards,

Rob
