Grant helps improve efficiency

Both Public Sector organisations and large Private Sector companies are heavily regulated by a raft of both UK and European legislative tracts in terms of who can be part of their supply chain.
For Medium Enterprises this can be readily resolved by gaining ISO 14001:2004 accreditation. For Small Enterprises – the ‘S’ in SMEs – this is not always either relevant to the business or, in many instances, financially justifiable.
The LCB Marque identifies a company/organisation as having participated in a full and thorough process of developing an Environmental Policy and a deliverable Environmental Management Plan. The process has been designed in consultation with an Affiliated member of the Institute of Environmental Management Associates (IEMA), and is designed to support any company/organisation wishing to progress to the environmental management standard ISO 14001:2004.
Displaying the Marque on their literature and web sites invites both Public and Private Sector organisations to confirm the credibility of the grant of the marque directly with the Low Carbon Business Programme and will subsequently open up supply chain eligibility to a growing number of businesses that are currently excluded from growing their business by this route.
Don’t take our word for it:
“A potential supplier’s environmental credentials form part of Thurrock Council’s scoring criteria when evaluating a tender response. Where a business has the Approved Low Carbon Business marque - supported by tailored, evidenced, environmental policies and actions - this will be taken into account in our bid appraisal process”.
Peter Stone, Head of Procurement at Thurrock Council
