Background
Stockbrook Manor looked into the possibility of refitting the lights in the country club. They decided to come to the Low Carbon Business Programme to see if they could receive any help with this project.
Stockbrook Manor has been established for over 20 years and boasts an impressive 250 acres of countryside. The facility includes a golf course, health club and a popular wedding venue.
When Stockbrook Manor decided to install some new modern lighting it found that a grant was available from the Low Carbon Business programme. The new lighting would lower their energy consumption and the business’ carbon footprint would be considerably reduced.
The potential of receiving a grant prompted the business to go ahead with the plans to fit the low energy lighting.
It was also agreed that the business would benefit from the installation of a Voltage optimisation transformer, which Low Carbon Business could include as part of the funding bid.
Low Carbon Business assisted Stockbrook Manor in writing their ERDF grant application.
Outcomes
The grant was approved at grants panel and Stockbrook Manor was able to go ahead with the project work. The lights were purchased along with the voltage optimisation unit, and all the equipment was then promptly installed.
The LED lights were installed throughout the premises to replace the original 50W halogen lamps, creating a potentially massive saving for the business in their energy costs.
The total cost of this work was £41,120.52 of which Low Carbon Business was able to reimburse £10,000.
As a direct result of this project Stockbrook Manor are set to save 237,682 kWh of electricity per annum. This will result in the business knocking 129.59 tonnes off of its carbon footprint every year. On top of this Stockbrook Manor will make annual cost savings of £16,516.20.
Additional benefits of the project include longer lasting lighting. The LED’s will last much longer than halogen lamps, meaning that they will not need to be replaced nearly as frequently. This will save money on general lighting costs.
In the foreseeable future Stockbrook Manor is looking at making water saving to further increase the business’ efficiency.
