Mansfields Design - Exhibiting a more efficient roof

Background

Mansfields Design wanted to replace their roof which was single skinned and not providing much insulation. They contacted Low Carbon Business to help them fund the project.

Mansfields Design are a group of design and marketing professionals who specialize in creating marketing and communications solutions. They were formed in 1905 and are based at Pipps Hill in Basildon.

Their core business is centered on creating live events, exhibitions and the design and delivery of graphic and digital collaterals
The roof of their factory was the original from when it was built in 1974. It was a corrugated asbestos cement roof that was single skinned and lacked any insulation.

They wanted to replace the roof to reduce heat loss and therefore cost. The lack of funds meant it wasn’t possible for Masfields Design to fund 100% of the costs of replacing the roof.

Mansfields Design then contacted Low Carbon Business after hearing about the grants they offer to help improve businesses energy efficiency.

Low Carbon Business was able to help guide Mansfields Design through an application for a European Development Fund (ERDF) grant to help assist with the cost of the roof replacement.

Outcomes

Of the total project cost of £61,352.98 Low Carbon Business was able to approve an ERDF grant for £15,000.

As a result Mansfields Design was able to install the new double skinned roof and the premises is now more heat efficient. 

As a result of the Programme’s intervention, Mansfields Design is expected to reduce its heating demands by 18,769 kWh which will reduce their carbon footprint by 6 tonnes. The grant should also enable savings to be made, of approximately £1013 of savings per annum in energy bills.
