Peak Security is the latest firm to benefit from the Low Carbon Business programme by way of a grant.
Peak Security specialises in a range of security services from CCTV installation and monitoring to alarm systems and intercoms.
The firm, which is always looking to streamline its activities and promote sustainable business, has recently invested in its latest venture.
Peak Security looked into introducing a paper reducing filing system. This system would allow the business to reduce the amount of physical files the business needed, saving paper as well as card.
The new filing system would also mean that the filing would be more accessible and secure. Being a paper reducing project Peak Security was able to apply for a carbon reduction grant from the Low Carbon Business programme.
The grant was approved at the grants panel and the new system was implemented into Peak Security.
The project cost the business a total of £1,740.08 of which Low Carbon Business was able to reimburse £696.03.
The project means that there are now a lot fewer physical files to deal with. This comes with a range of benefits to the business. The preliminary benefit means that the firm will be more efficient. Not only will Peak save a lot of office space by having less physical files and folders, but the new system will also mean that there is a lot of fuel saved. Previously contractors and technicians would have to return to the office each time to fill out a site visit report. By putting a remote working system and digital filling system in place, the need to travel to the office so often is eliminated. This saves the business fuel and resulting costs.
In fact, Peak could be looking at saving 1,165 kWh of diesel each year as well as 12,000 sheets of A4 and 300 folders. This means that the firm also reduces its carbon outputs by 1.39 tonnes of CO2 each year and saves £1,800 annually.
